Soorarai Pottru, one of the most revered films from India according to IMDB, and third to The Shawshank Redemption and The Godfather, is being officially remade in Hindi. The team from 2D Entertainment has joined hands with Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia Entertainment to bring out the remake. While Sudha Kongara continues to write the screenplay, like she had done for the original, and draws up her plans to direct the remake, the producers have already started shortlisting names for different characters in the film, originally led by actor Suriya Sivakumar, also one of the names attached to 2D Entertainment. According to a report on ETIMES.COM, the film’s makers have drawn up a list of four seasoned actors to play the central character, Maara. Hrithik Roshan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar and John Abraham are the top names who are said to be on the producers’ consideration list for the lead role. Interesting as it may sound, most of the actors have a history of backing their films as producers. Given that each one has a packed date diary, it will be interesting to see which one of them makes room for an interesting remake and step into Suriya’s shoes. Hearsay is that the deal could soon be closed with one of them and an announcement will be underway. According to ETIMES.COM, producer Vikram Malhotra had been in talks with the makers of the original for the last six months and sealed the deal only this summer, six months after it had dropped on Amazon Prime Video. Soorarai Pottru was based on Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey by G. R. Gopinath and was released in two languages – Tamil and Telugu. It was widely applauded by the audience.
Who from Ajay Devgn, John Abraham, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan could play Suriya’s role in Soorarai Pottru remake?
